Special
Issue on Medical Tourism and eHealth
Chief
Editor of this Issue: Prof. Narong Nimsakul
Journal
of eHealth Technology and Application (JETA, ISSN
1881-4581) is a new emerging international
journal in the field of eHealth, which is
technically supported by the ITU and the APT (Asia
Pacific Telecommunity). Prospective authors are
invited to submit their manuscripts that are
related to medical tourism and eHealth to be
published in the next year's issue.
Medical
tourism is a combined package of medical health
checkup, treatment, and travel, or refers pre-operatively
to the practice of healthcare providers traveling
internationally to deliver healthcare.
After
the September 11th Attacks, over 50 countries
have identified medical tourism as a national
industry. However, accreditation and other
measures of quality vary widely across the globe,
and there are risks and ethical issues that make
this method of accessing medical care
controversial citation needed. Also, some
destinations may become hazardous or even
dangerous for medical tourists to contemplate.
On
the other hand, the health care workers such as
doctor and nurse sometimes cross a border, too.
These activities make problems in the WTO.
As
for the eHealth, the intellectual information can
cross a border via telecommunication circuit.
So
in this Journal, you are invited to consider
three fields as follows;
1.
Medical tourism
2. Medical workers and the Free Trade Agreement
3. eHealth activities beyond national border
A:
project, activity
B: socio-economical analysis
C: education
D: ICT(information communication technology)
E: international body(WHO, WTO, ITU, UN-ESCAP,
etc.)
F: others
